Hope your holidays were good as we entered a new year. You have until Tuesday morning, (Jan. 4) to order tickets for "Tango Buenos Aires" - $25 group tickets are $22.50 if you e-mail mary.menz@sbcglobal.net. The tickets will be distributed just before the show if not sooner. Come early for the pre-show milonga.
Regular Saturday classes resume this week. A beginner basics class will take place at 11 a.m., and at noon, seasoned tangueros are invited to join us for a one hour practica.
We want more Argentine tango in Modesto. If we can find a good floor at a decent price, say $5 per person. what days and times are best for you? Would you pay a monthly subscription to ensure a no-cost opportunity to dance at least once a week? What makes you want to dance? What keeps you away? Please click reply and share your thoughts. We will summarize results in a future bulletin.
CALENDAR FOR THE WEEK
MONDAY - Tonight, Jan. 3 & 10. Social dancing and practica at Jacobs Fine Dining, 2501 McHenry. No fee, but you can order food/drink off the menu. It will be a fun evening in a good place to practice class material.
WEDNESDAY - Jan. 5 @ 3 p.m. Beginner classes at Modesto Senior Center, 211 Bodem (corner of Scenic).
SATURDAY - Jan. 8 @ 11 a.m. Class at Sophia's Dance Journey, 711 10th St. (between G & H). This beginner level class will progress through basic concepts. If enough other people show up at noon we continue with a "practica." Seasoned tangueros are encouraged to join at noon for a small fee to cover cost of the studio.
Price of lessons: $35 for the month, $10 drop-in.
