Hope your Christmas was good as we prepare for a new year. Time to order tickets for "Tango Buenos Aires" remains. To order $25 group tickets for $22.50 each, e-mail mary.menz@sbcglobal.net. The tickets will be picked up at the beginning of the year and distributed just before the show if not sooner. Come early to enjoy the pre-show milonga.

We want more Argentine tango opportunity in Modesto. If we can find a good floor at a reasonable price, say $5 per person. what days and times are best for you? Can you pay a monthly subscription to ensure a no-cost opportunity to dance at least once a week? What makes you want to dance? What keeps you away? Please click reply and share your thoughts. We will summarize results in a future bulletin.

CALENDAR FOR THE WEEK
MONDAY - Tonight, Dec. 27 & Jan. 3. Social dancing and practica at Jacobs Fine Dining, 2501 McHenry. No fee, but you can order food/drink off the menu. It will be a fun evening in a good place to practice class material.

WEDNESDAYS - 3 p.m classes  on hold at Modesto Senior Center, 211 Bodem, 

SATURDAY - Classes  at Sophia's Dance Journey, 711 10th St. (between G & H). ended for 2010.  First class begins again on January 8. at 11 a.m. See you in 2011.

@>---- Friday, Dec. 31 - At Tango By The River, 128 J St., Old Sacramento.  ANNUAL NEW YEAR'S EVE TANGO BALL! This  dressy affair invites you to  get out your tango finest. This year's theme is black and white. For those new to tango, there will be a beginning lesson from 8 to 9 p.m. followed by a milonga  from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Yes, it's an ALL-NIGHTER! Cost is $20 per person for the lesson and milonga or $15 per person for the milonga only -both with champagne, appetizers, refreshments--and waffles for breakfast! There will be fireworks over Tower Bridge in Old Sac at 9 p.m. and again at midnight!

Level III (Advanced) Tango. 7-8:30 followed by practice time. You need at least three months of tango to attend. Taught in close embrace, so you need the technique to effectively dance in close embrace. You must be able to lead or follow the eight-count basic, ochos, and turns (giros or molinetes).
