Happy Bastille day says the group from Buenos Aires. Last night we went to our first milonga of the tour, and who should be there but Roberto Riobo. We, here, will be doing a different milonga every night - in Modesto we will have to wait till September.

No fee, but you're urged to order off the menu. We start about 8 p.m.; some come early to dine. We may dance until 9:30 p.m.Frankie & Rick have agreed to be there while so many of us are in Buenos Aires.


SATURDAY - (All of July) - NO July Modesto Fitness and Racquet Club classes. Classes resume in August, with Patrick teaching. This may be a good time to check out classes out of town, Sacramento and the Bay Area.

Buenos Aires Tango Tour with Gato and Andrea!

Trip specially for the Modesto Tango Group, July 12-24, 2008

Cost: $1500 per person without air fares if by Jan. 31st, 2008.
$1650 for people who register between February 1st and May 31st.

How to register
1. Fill in the registration form, sent to each person who requests it by e-mail to us montitango@hotmail.com or andreaygato@gmail.com.ar in order to register.

2. The second step is the deposit to book the trip.
First period: $1500 per person without air fares
Deposit: $400 per person paid by bank deposit before February 28, 2008.

2nd payment: $600 per person (cash) paid directly to Gato and Andrea while teaching in Modesto up to March 25, 2008 (receipt will be given)

3rd payment: $500 per person by bank deposit to Gato and Andrea to June 10, 2008.

Second period (late registration): $1650 per person without air fares
Deposit: $1000 per person (cash) directly to Gato and Andrea by April 30, 2008 (receipt will be given).

Balance: $650 per person paid by bank deposit to Gato and Andrea by June 10, 2008.

July will be quiet in Modesto with many of us either on a tango pilgrimage to Buenos Aires, the Mecca of tango, or at Nora's Tango Week. No lessons, but Monday evenings at Jacobs will continue after July 7, with tango events out of town for those who need a fix.

These let you start dancing Argentine Tango socially. In Level I, is fundamentals: basic elements of the tango walk and introduction of basic steps, emphasizing posture, leading and following skills, and interpreting the music. Level II focuses on pivots and turns, how to apply steps learned so far into the social setting. Level III changes monthly but always focuses on technique, musicality, and steps appropriate to the social milonga. Classes taught by Donna Williams and Mark Napier.

Space is available in both our July/Aug eight-week Close Embrace Series and July Volcadas series. Sean wants to balance genders, so you may not get in right away. Currently there are more followers in the close embrace class, and more leaders in the volcadas class, but there is space available for both roles, and the sooner you register the likelier you get in. Bellow are the class details. Please email register, or if you have any questions. Registration will continue until the class is full.

The format of the Saturday classes is:
11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. "Tango Fundamentals"

The first class will encompass an hour of instruction from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a 15 minute practica. The Continuing Tango class will start with that 15 minute practica, followed by an hour and fifteen minute class. This format will be useful for beginners (in giving them a chance to really practice following the first class) as well as a solid hour and a quarter class for the intermediates and above to really cover a topic.
