Things are getting exciting in Modesto. Friday and Saturday is Tango First Century at the Gallo Art  Center, preceded by free outdoor milongas at 6 p.m. Friday AND Saturday - plus a Saturday post-show milonga at the Doubletree - with the cast invited. There will be classes as normal on Saturday. You may have  missed group tickets, but it is NOT too late to buy them. The show has rave reviews and won't play Northern California again.


Next week is our Art Walk milonga at Concettas, May 21, the Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend, maybe your only chance to dance in Modesto for a while, as there will be no classes on May 23. The milonga at Jacobs and  workshops with Diego & Negracha at the end of May will top off a great month. 

CALENDAR FOR THE  WEEK


MONDAY -Tonight,  May 11 & 18, Social dancing and practica at Jacobs, 8 p.m., 2501 McHenry Avenue. A good place to practice class material.  ALL levels encouraged.  No fee, but you're urged to buy food and/or drink.  Come early to eat.


FRIDAY, May 15 & SATURDAY, May 16 - "Tango First Century" at the Gallo Center, with free pre-show milongas.




SATURDAY - May16, ongoing classes at Modesto Fitness & Racquet Club, 200 Norwegian  - Patrick teaching.
Beginner level 11 a.m. to noon,  Supervised practica until 12:15 p.m.
Intermediate level: 12:15 - 1:15 p.m. - Supervised practica till 2 p.m.
$12 a lesson, intermediate students encouraged to take both lessons at no additional fee, to work on technique and be there for beginners.   Practica only $5 - included in lesson. Introductory packages available  on a one time only basis for $75, include nine lessons, only usable at the beginner level.

The series costs $50 a person, $90 per couple for the month; $15 per drop-in, practica alone $5. Students should have  clearance from Ed and Rebeca.
