Modesto Tango Bulletin, January 7, 2019

Kenny started off the New Year with many new students in the first class, and in the second class worked with close embrace and ended the class with "lazy back Ochos" We will be working on many of the concepts covered in the next week.

The Redwood Tango Ensemble comes to Modesto to present a concert at Congregation Beth Shalom on the afternoon of Sunday, January 13, 2019. The organizer of the concert series plans to make room for us to dance, but whether you dance or not, you will definitely enjoy the music by this group of very popular Bay Area musicians. I have tickets in my possession at the group rate of $15, so come to our Tuesday gathering at Urbano this week or contact me at:  marymenz44@gmail.com

Then on January 19, Marcelo Molina, two time champion in the Stage category of Tango USA, the US branch of the Tango World Cup in Buenos Aires, comes for a couple of workshops.

There is still an available 9 pm slot for a private lesson with Marcelo on Friday, January 18, and if there is enough interest Marcelo has agreed to stay over to conduct more private lessons on Sunday, Jan. 20. Be sure to contact me at marymenz44@gmail.com, if interested .

On another note, I received a call from radio station KCBP, which is organizing a dance contest at the State theatre on the evening of February 23. The competition will focus on 4 dance styles, Samba, Salsa, Swing and Argentine Tango, and they would like to have as many as 4 couples in each category. So, if you are at all interested, you have a month to prepare, the announcement to the public will be out in next week's Modesto Bee Scene. Let me know and we will see what can be done to groom you for the event.

And now, for the mundane:

Until later, Mary
