Hard to believe but 2017 is here, and we are kicking off the New Year with lots of tango this week.

We will have our Tuesday practica at Urbano, Wednesday classes resume at the Senior Center, on Friday we will have a First Friday Milonga, the first milonga in almost two years, and on Saturday we are back at Studio V with JeanPierre Sighe doing a couple of classes.  So put on your dancing shoes and join the fun.

Until later, Mary

  CALENDAR FOR THE WEEK

TUESDAY:  Weekly practicas are back at Urbano California Bistro, 1016 H Street - Directly behind the Gallo Center. Some come early to eat.  So come to eat, drink socialize, and of course, dance Tango.  This is a good place to work on material covered in class.  7:00 to 9:00 p.m.We need a good presence to make it worth their while. Management of Urbano has been very supportive of our tango community, allowing us to use their facility for our milongas when they had Jacobs Restaurant.  We need to support them in return.  Hope to see you there.

WEDNESDAY:  January 4,  Class  at  Modesto Senior Center,  211 Bodem Avenue   focusing  on tango basics.    2:45 / 3:45.  No fee.

FRIDAY: January 6, 8:00 - 11:00, First Friday Milonga at Urbano California Bistro, 1016 H Street.  No introductory lesson, no guest artist, just a chance to dance and enjoy the evening.

SATURDAY: January 7 at studio V , 4345 Spyres.  Class with JeanPierre Sighe, organizer and teacher at Tango Magdalena in the Bay Area.  He does a lot of work on partner connection as well as the African roots of tango and has as his teachers some top names, including Carlos Gavito.  The first class, for all levels is at 11 am, with a particular emphasis that beginners are encouraged.  The second class, at a more intermediate level is at 12:30

The cost of one class is $15, for both classes $25

   MILONGA

We   be starting 2017 by hosting our first milonga in two years.  Mark your calendars for Friday January 6, the first Friday of the month, at Urbano, 1016 H Street, from 8 to 11 p.m.
