CALENDAR FOR THE WEEK

MONDAY - Tonight. April 14 & 21: Practica and social dancing at Jacobs, 2501 McHenry. A chance to work on moves learned in class and to get floor time. No fee, but you're urged to order off the menu. We start about 8 p.m. An informal meeting; some come early to dine. We may dance until 9:30 p.m. See Monday at Jacobs.

THURSDAY (April 17). 7 - 9 p.m. Art Walk Milonga at Concetta's. Dance, eat, drink and socialize at this fun venue. 1205 J Street

SATURDAY (April 19) - Classes at Modesto Fitness and Racquet Club.
200 Norwegian, off McHenry. Sean & Charity teaching.
11 a.m.-noon. Beginner level
Intermediates invited at no additional fee to perfect technique and help beginners.
Noon-1 p.m. Intermediate Class -
1-1:45 p.m. Guided practica - An opportunity just to dance, practice what was taught in class, with instructor on hand to help.
Class: $12 per person. Practica only, $5 per person (free with class). Introductory deals for newcomers offer 10 beginner level classes for $75 (can only be used at the beginner level.)

Level I - Beginning Tango - Tuesdays 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Level II - Intermediate Tango - Tuesdays 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Level III - Intermediate/Advanced Tango - Tuesdays 8:30-9:30 p.m.
These classes will get you dancing Argentine Tango socially.
In Level I, you learn fundamentals, level II focuses on pivots and level III changes every month focusing on technique, musicality.
Classes taught by Donna Williams and Mark Napier.
Cost: $50 per person/$90 per couple.

The essence of embellishment comes from the music. Each class will build off the next, although it will be possible to take just one or two. Priced to encourage ladies to take all three class: $20 for one class, $30 for two, $35 for all three.

In San Francisco: "A Tango Trilogy"
A star-studded, three-program series. Some of the world's best tango talent show tango's reputation for pushing traditional social norms.
This unique, female-dominated Argentine Tango series consists of three distinct programs, four performances of each, at the Palace of Fine Arts; Programs #1, #2 and #3 on April 18, August 18, and November 28, respectively.
Ticket prices for the series range from $150 to $60. Single seats $55-$25 with 10% single show discount for seniors and students.

This program reaches out into the classical music world. The three women of the Eroica Trio teamed with brilliant composer/bandoneonist Daniel Binelli and classic guitarist Eduardo Isaac. Eroica Trio, the most sought after classical chamber music group in the world with two Grammy nominations and cellist Sara Sant' Ambrogio, winner of a solo Grammy, appear in the same program as the international dance superstar from "Forever Tango" and "Tango and Fire", Miriam Larici.

"A Tango Trilogy" has generated interest in Europe and Japan. "The Leading Ladies of Tango" drew more than 2000 people to the Herbst Theatre last December.
