We resume classes  at Studio V on Saturday, September 12, as well as Wednesday classes at the Senior Center.  We will work on  material presented by Kenny Bell at his class last class here.    When we return on September 12 we come an hour later than normal as there will be a private event taking place during the prior hour. 

WEDNESDAY: Sept 9, 2015,   Class   at  Modesto Senior Center,  211 Bodem Avenue.   We are currently working on a presentation we will make at the Senior Center Open house on the morning of September 24.

SATURDAY: September 12,  2015 -   Studio V,   Pilates and Fitness Studio, 4345 Spyres.  Class starts an hour later - 12:00 pm We work on material presented by Kenny.  $10, unless you attended Kenny's last class, in which case the fee was covered then.

Sept 18th:  DJ Ashvin Iyer, from Oakland.  DJ Ashvin is a popular DJ in the SF Bay Area and he deejays regularly at tango festivals and tango events over the country and he will be driving up here in the congested Friday traffic to deejay for us!  We appreciate that!

For the month of September,   work  on Barridas.  Explore  the different ways to do barridas  from different angle - side, front and back -, single & multiple and  leading  them, etc,   breaking  down  details and giving  step by step instruction to lead and follow these elements.  The class is not about patterns and sequences but   the skills to lead and follow an important element in tango.  (Patrick is with TOB just a little over a month   and he has been getting praises for his method of teaching and how he breaks down things step by step and make learning a difficult element easy to grasp). 
8 - 10 pm :  Práctica, $3 or free with class 

Tango by the River, 128 J Street, Old Sacramento:  Performance Tango Class  7:00-8:30 pm! 
Take your tango to another level with Instructor Donna Tielsch assisted by Stephen Cahill. This is a great course for those who have always dreamed of performing tango on stage or just want to learn stage tango sequences to add some pizzazz to their dance. In each 4-week course, we  focus on advanced tango sequences, tango poses, and learning parts of a choreographed routine. This class is for dancers with previous tango experience;  not for beginners. No partner necessary. This is a wonderful way to build confidence in your dancing, on or off the stage.  Practica from 8:30-9:30 pm.
$15 drop-in per class or $50 per person/$90 per couple for the month (a four-week series starting at the beginning of each month).

Beginning Tango - Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm  - learn the fundamentals of Argentine Tango: the elements of the tango embrace and posture, and moving with a partner in simple steps, focusing on musicality and connection. 
Intermediate Tango -  7:30-8:30 pm - builds on  material from the beginning class, adding backward ochos, giros (turns), and occasionally barridas (sweeps) and sacadas (invasions). In all classes we focus on technique, connection on the dance floor, and how to apply all steps learned   into the social setting.  Tango Practica: 8:30-9:30 p.m.  -  $12 per class + $5 per practica

In September, we work on Intermediate level Tango.  In this class, we explore  tango technique  and  introduce  giros, right turn, left turn and the combinations of turns in the media luna and molinete.
For the Intermediate class, we will alternate teaching Int Tango, Vals and Milonga and we will always be giving tango techniques & adornos that pertain to the execution of the elements that are being taught.  ( e.g. October: Vals, November: Milonga, December: Int Tango and so forth).

Eduardo Saucedo will be teaching the Thursday classes at Tango by the River for the month of September. He is focusing on how to express the movement with the different orchestras as well as the different styles of embrace: Open, Closed, Mixed, Nuevo. Each week we will explore a different group of orchestras to increase your vocabulary of steps, combinations, sequences, embellishments, and more! Eduardo is a phenomenal teacher and dancer ... don't miss this opportunity to take your tango to the next level!
