Kenny Bell returns on Saturday, June 30 to conduct another couple of classes. The first one meant for people of all levels, with beginners particularly encouraged, starts at 11 am, the second class at a more intermediate level begins at 12:30 pm. The cost of one class is $15, and $25 for both. Kenny is one of the more popular instructors for Modesto, young and dynamic having come out of a hip/hop background. If you have had a class with him already, you know why you want to come back, if not, do take advantage of this opportunity to work with this young dynamo.

Big events for Modesto in Mid-July. Our first milonga in a long time at Fuzio's Universal Bistro - an early event beginning at 7 pm. Earlier in the day, workshops with a world class tango musicologist. People travel far and wide to work with Joaquin Amenabar, but this is your chance to work with him right in Modesto. For those for whom standing for periods of time, you may want to bring a small collapsible chair or stool you can sit on during the lecture portions of his workshop. Mark your calendars for July 14

Until later, Mary

Sunday

Modesto Tango Bulletin, June 18, 2018

Saturday Kenny Bell worked on milonga with the class.  Next week we will review the material he presented in the Saturday class.

Joaquin Amenabar, world class tango musicologist, will come to Modesto on July 14. He has written the book, "Tango, Let's Dance to the Music" and has been doing workshops in the US and Europe.

We do need a critical mass, so I would encourage you ALL to come and encourage someone else to come along.

His first class  : Basic units of tango rhythm. Simple, double and half-time step . When to use each one of these?

Second class: : Dancing the melody. Variations in tango depend on the melody which makes every tango different and gives the follower a completely different role . We learn the melodic rhythm as a system and how to dance with the melody.

Both classes are for all levels. It should be the very first class to take for somebody who wants to learn tango. It is also important for advance dancers that may dance the melody intuitively but do not know the rules of the melodic rhythm.

That evening, after the class with Amenabar, we will have a milonga at Fuzio - more information below.
