Kenny Bell returns on Saturday with a couple of workshops, one for all levels at 11:00 a.m. and a second one at a continuation level at 12:30.  Kenny's classes are fun and informative.  He has become a sought after tango DJ as well as a popular instructor at many different festivals, here and abroad, so take advantage of the opportunity to work with him. 

 

In the meantime we have received word from Sonora that they are bringing a guest instructor later this month.  More on that below.

Description:  In the month of August, the focus is on Sacadas and Ganchos,  from position three.  Ever wonder why your gancho lead that was meant for her leg to go inside had became a sacada instead that led the follower to do an outside flip?  In this class, we will focus on distinguishing the differences of the two so it will be clear to execute and receive each differently.

 

 

Tango by the River, 128 J Street, Old Sacramento:  Performance Tango Class  7:00-8:30 pm! Take your tango to another level. Focus on advanced tango sequences, tango poses, and learning parts of a choreographed routine.

Geared toward dancers with previous tango experience;   not for beginners. No partner necessary.  7:00-8:30 p.m.

$15 drop-in per class or $50 per person/$90 per couple for the Monthly Discount Program (entitles you to attend the Thursday Advanced Tango Class as well!)

Mike & Alisa will be offering a tango class that will encompass all the concepts, skills and practice that will enable you to look and feel your best while expressing yourself through tango.  You will need to have completed at least the beginning class to take this class.

Mike & Alisa are two of the four founders of tango in Sacramento.  Together as a couple, Mike & Alisa have over 20 years of tango dancing experience and they have studied with many of the greatest Argentine Tango masters.

TIME:    Thursday, 7:30 - 9:00 pm     PRICE:  $50 per month/$15 drop-in

 

Columbia:

August 20 at the Dance Castle, 23496 Gold Spring Drive, 6:45 - 8:00 p.m. - Workshop with Iona Italia, focusing on solo technique exercises, suitable for everyone. The   workshop is to provide you with additional tools to improve and maintain your tango technique. We will focus on exercises designed to polish your fundamental skills: balance, posture, walking and dissociated movements such as ochos, giros, enrosquesboleos.  We'll learn these exercises carefully and thoroughly in class, so that students can remember and use them later as part of a regular solo practice.

Iona is a writer, teacher and dancer. Originally a university professor, she moved to Buenos Aires in 2006 and has been based there ever since, studying with a wide range of teachers, practising daily and dancing at the local milongas almost every night of the week. A lifelong creative writer, she has been chronicling her experiences as a dancer and teacher for the past four years: first in her Wordpress blog Tango Addiction and now as Terpsichoral Tangoaddict on Facebook. As a teacher, Iona focuses on helping students to achieve soft, sensual snugglicious embraces, smooth, unforced natural movements and a deep, careful, conscious attention to the music. She believes in relaxed leading and dynamic, expressive following. She is a thoughtful, careful, articulate teacher and a playful, musical dancer. $10 per person
