Bulletin July 9, 2007

Tango Week 2007 has come and gone. Modesto was represented at the classes and milongas during both weekend and week. Chances to study with all the masters in one place are few - but the rest of our summer will give opportunities to do that. Workshops with Gato & Andrea resume Tuesday, and when the Tuesday workshops end in July, Oscar & Georgina join us for two Wednesdays & Thursdays in a row.

Oscar Mandagaran of Argentina, who danced in the Broadway production of "Forever Tango" and "Malambo" and in the Carlos Saura movie "Tango," is among the most charismatic, elegant and sought-after teachers in the tango world, He now considers himself a dance teacher first - has taught throughout Argentina Europe and Japan - but his performance continues to be a "must see" in Buenos Aires as well as the rest of the world, He danced in the company of "Señor Tango" in Buenos Aires every night for 20 months. and won the sub-champion cup at "Festival Nacional de Malambo" an Argentine folk dance in 1989.
Georgina Vargas, noted singer/dancer in her own right, debuted as a ballerina and has participated in tango festivals in Europe and Japan. She began as a professional tango dancer in Rome under auspices of the Argentine and Uruguayan embassies, and has performed and taught in Buenos Aires. Her CD, "Por Aquellos Tango." will be available for purchase at our milonga on July 27.
