Tango Animation - En Tus Brazos (In Your Arms)

Enjoy the beautiful French animation movie "En Tus Brazos" about how nothing can stop a tango dancing couple ... not even fate. It abounds with creativity, sentiment and argentine tango.

The greatest tango dancer of the 20's is stuck in a wheelchair after a tragic accident. Thanks to his wife, he recovers the use of his legs, the time of one imaginary dance, ending entreating passionately "Don't stop, hold me tight".

Directed by François-Xavier Goby http://fxgoby.free.fr/home.html Edouard Jouret and Matthieu Landour. France 2005. Presented on festivals in Paris, Séoul and Bristol. Original version on http://www.entusbrazos.fr/

Music (first part): "En Tus Brazos" by Alfredo de Angelis and Oscar Larroca (vocal). Composition by Carlos Zárate. Lyric by Elizardo Martínez Vilas.
Music (final part): "El Huracán" by Edgardo Donato. Composition by Osvaldo Donato

Trailer for Leading Ladies of Tango

Trailer for Leading Ladies of Tango. Music by Daniel Binelli

Monday

Bulletin April 2, 2007

Saturday with Marcelo and Romina was a great success. We were close to standing room only. There were many comments that our Modesto milongas are the most elegant along the Highway 99 corridor.

We begin April with a new face on our teaching staff. Peter Baldridge has been at our milongas and has worked closely with Roberto Riobo. His knowledge of tango history is extensive and approach to technique is user-friendly.

In late July Oscar Mandagaran will perform at our milonga and do workshops. Oscar, a lead dancer in the Broadway show "Forever Tango" and in Carlos Saura's "Tango" movie, will be an instructor at Nora's Tango Week (see below). There will be a performance of "Forever Tango" at the Bob Hope Theatre in May (see below).

Also in this Bulletin

1. The Video of the Week is of Marcelo and Romina at our milonga Saturday.

2. Forever Tango comes to the valley

3. Pair of tango shoes available.

4. Nora's Tango Week.

************************

1. The Video of the Week is of Marcelo and Romina at our milonga Saturday. They perform a vals Esquinas Porteñas by Angel D'Agostino with Angel Vargas.

2. Luis Bravo's Forever Tango - the show which inspired many current tangueros, at last comes to the valley - on May 26, 2007
Luis Bravo's Forever Tango

Forever Tango, Luis Bravo's internationally acclaimed dance spectacular, traces the history of tango through music, dance and dramatic vignettes. It had a smash year-long run on Broadway in 1997-98 (garnering multiple Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations). It has played on five continents and recently enjoyed smash engagements in Japan, Italy, Mexico and Miami. Since its first performance in 1994, the show has been seen by more that 5 million people around the world.
Show Date: Saturday, May 26.
Show Time: 8 p.m
Doors open at 7 p.m
Ticket Prices: $48, $38, & $25 (Additional fees apply)
No exchanges or refunds on tickets.
It will also play in Fresno, On Wednesday, May 30 at the Saroyan Theater.
Wednesday, May 30, at 7:30p.m Call 510-522-3111 for tickets. $52, $42, $27

3. Fioretta Mino, who teaches in Madera, asked me to post a pair of shoes she bought on line and now can't use. Too big, made in Argentina, so returning would not be cost-effective. These are size 7 with a 3" pencil heel, very comfortable and well made. For details call Fioretta Mino <fm_brisa@yahoo.com>. Pics follow:
